The delicious crunchy feta snack ready in only 10 minutes in the air fryer

delicious crunchy feta snack in the air fryer

If you are crazy about fried feta, then the air fryer promises you will have it on your table in its most delicious and crispy version

Feta, a trademark of Greek cuisine, is much loved and fits literally everywhere and always. It accompanies every dish, from hot soups and meats to cold salads and seafood, while its solo presence at the table causes hands to constantly alternate with plenty of forks over the small plate of feta saganaki.

We take inspiration from the flavour of this favourite appetiser to make it in an air fryer like a chicken nugget with a crispy panko crust.

In this recipe, the feta is placed in the air fryer and baked with a delicious crust made of panko, egg and spices and accompanied by barbecue sauce, creating a dish reminiscent of a delicious vegan nugget but in a salty and, if nothing else more, a cheesy Greek way!

Ingredients

1 tsp. tablespoon flour
1 tsp. sweet onion, powdered
1 tsp. sweet dried chilli
One egg
1/4 fl. panko
1/4 fl. sesame seeds
180 gr. packet feta cheese cut into 2cm cubes
fresh chives for serving

For the barbecue sauce

1/4 fl. barbecue sauce
1 1/2 tsp. sweet apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. sweet dried chilli pieces

Procedure

Put the flour, onion powder and chilli in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Beat the egg in a separate bowl. Put the panko and sesame seeds in a bowl.

First, gradually flour the cubes of feta. Then dip them in the egg and finally in the panko until they are well covered all around.

Preheat the air fryer to 180° C. Place the feta cubes, in a single layer, in the fryer basket. Bake for 6 minutes or until golden brown.

For the barbecue sauce: Put all the ingredients in a bowl. Sprinkle the feta with the chives and serve with the barbecue sauce.

*Panko is a Japanese breading mix made from wheat flour. Find it in Asian stores and large supermarkets.
