Filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, who has a host of acclaimed films to his credit including the latest Emma Stone-starring film, Poor Things, is set to direct the remake of the 2003 South Korean fantasy comedy, Save the Green Planet. The film is scheduled to start production in the UK and New York in the coming months.

The film will be a joint production between Element Pictures, Square Peg, and CJ ENM. It's worth noting that this upcoming film will mark Lanthimos' sixth collaboration with Element Pictures.

The original film, directed by Joon-Hwan Jang, revolves around Byeong-gu, a childish man who believes that the world is on the brink of an alien invasion and sets out to save it. Further details about the remake have yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Lanthimos, who has received six Academy Award nominations for films such as Dogtooth, The Favourite, The Lobster, and Poor Things, has another film, Kinds of Kindness, in development.
