The visit by Mitsotakis is an amazing opportunity, said the Indian Prime Minister

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi made statements after the meeting they had earlier today.

Modi's statements:

After my own visit to Greece, this visit is aimed at strengthening our strategic relations, and the visit of Mr. Mitsotakis after 16 years is an amazing opportunity. Therefore, the discussions today are extremely satisfactory.

We are moving fast to achieve our goal. We have identified opportunities to give a new impetus and direction to our partnership

There are opportunities for close cooperation, and I am glad that the two countries are taking steps towards closer cooperation.

There are new opportunities for cooperation in the field of defence.

The peoples of the two countries exchange ideas. We have identified new initiatives to breathe new life into our relations including mobility and migration.

We placed special emphasis on the interconnection of the countries' Higher Education Institutions. We decided to create a new action plan on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“For Greece, the strategic partnership between our two countries is of particular importance and we will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics including on strategic partnership, and fostering our economic engagement,” he told reporters.

Mitsotakis was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan ahead of his talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In the morning, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on the Greek prime minister. “Delighted to call on Prime Minister @kmitsotakis of Greece today. Valued his commitment to enhancing India-Greece ties. Look forward to the strengthening of our strategic partnership,” Jaishankar posted on ‘X’.

India-Greece relations were elevated to a ‘strategic partnership’ during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Greece in August last year.

PM Mitsotakis will be the chief guest and keynote speaker at the Raisina Dialogue in the national capital this evening.

“Prime Minister Mitsotakis’ visit is expected to further strengthen and deepen the strategic partnership between India and Greece,” the Ministry of External Affairs said last week.
