Over 8,000 Greeks Register for Remote Voting, Domestic Interest High

Greek Parliament rejects bill on diaspora voting restrictions

More than 8,000 Greek citizens residing abroad registered on the postal voting platform within its initial two days, with significant domestic voter interest as well.

Registration for the June 9 European Parliament elections closes on April 29, 2024, requiring completion 40 days prior. The Interior Ministry will distribute voting materials to individuals opting for remote voting, with each voter or legal representative receiving them personally in May.

Several Greek embassies in EU member states are launching informative campaigns, and Interior Minister Niki Kerameus will attend related events in Luxembourg, Amsterdam, and Brussels soon.

It's important to note that Greek nationals living in France, for instance, can vote in the European elections for French MEPs, necessitating a choice between voting for representatives in either country.
