16 Injured in Athens Protests as Police Respond to Clashes

Sixteen people, including nine civilians and seven police officers, were injured on Friday during clashes between protesters and police in Athens. The rallies were held in opposition to the vote on private universities and in support of International Women's Day.

Greek police reported that they were attacked with firebombs in two separate incidents and once with stones. They responded with tear gas. Fourteen individuals were questioned, and three were arrested.

An investigation into online statements and videos related to the day's events is underway. Protests organized by students and other groups began at noon, with clashes erupting around 2:50 PM and continuing past 3:50 PM.
