Following a trial at the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki, a 69-year-old man has been handed a 10-year sentence for committing sexual acts against a 38-year-old woman with mental disabilities.
The court found the man guilty of exploiting a person incapable of resisting sexual advances, ruling out any mitigating circumstances. Immediately following the verdict, the convicted individual was returned to prison to serve his sentence.
The incident occurred within the municipality of Oraiokastro and came under investigation in February, prompted by a complaint filed by the mother of the 38-year-old victim. Subsequently, the victim herself corroborated the allegations during examination, conducted in the presence of a psychologist.
In his defense, the 69-year-old maintained his innocence, denouncing the complaint as false. He attributed it to strained relationships with local residents, alleging a personal vendetta aimed at damaging his reputation.
