Greek authorities announced on Saturday that they confiscated over three tons of the prescription nerve pain drug pregabalin and impounded a British-registered yacht.

The operation occurred at the port of Lavrio on Thursday night, around 70 kilometers southeast of Athens. The coast guard discovered 3.75 million capsules of Nervigesic, produced by Indian pharmaceuticals company HAB Pharma, on the yacht. The capsules were packaged in 500 cardboard boxes, weighing approximately 3.15 tons. Pregabalin is commonly used to treat nerve pain caused by conditions including diabetes and shingles, as well as a type of seizure called partial seizure.

The raid took place following intelligence received from Greeceā€™s National Intelligence Agency Regarding the activities of Egyptian networks within Greek territory. The investigation by local authorities is ongoing, with the yacht and its contents remaining at the Lavrio port.
