Today, March 29th, the Mixed Jury Court of Athens, unanimously declared Roula Pispirigou guilty for the tragic death of her daughter, 9-year-old Georgina Daskalaki, following a marathon 14-month trial.

The court held Pispirigou responsible for attempted manslaughter and the subsequent fatal act against her daughter. Pispirigou, who hails from Patras, has indicated that she will not pursue mitigating circumstances and thus anticipates a life sentence.

The court's decision, announced by the president of the Mixed Jury Court, attributes Georgina's demise on January 29, 2022, to a potent dose of ketamine administered by her mother while she was hospitalised at the Aglaia Kyriakou Children's Hospital.

Furthermore, the court determined that a cardiac arrest Georgina suffered in April 2021 at the Karamandaneio Hospital resulted from Pispirigou once again administering ketamine to the child. Despite medical intervention, the incident left Georgina quadriplegic, with the court holding Pispirigou accountable for her daughter's condition.

As the court adjourns to deliberate on sentencing, the verdict marks the culmination of a lengthy legal process encompassing around 100 sessions and the testimony of approximately 60 witnesses. Throughout the trial, Pispirigou contested the allegations, attributing Georgina's fate to medical mismanagement or undetected genetic conditions.

In her defence, Pispirigou vehemently denied any involvement with ketamine, dismissing suggestions linking her actions to personal motives as "sick."

The prosecutor's scathing speech prompted a strong reaction from Pispirigou, who requested to leave the courtroom in response to disparaging remarks about her motherhood.

Roula Pispirgou is also accused in the suffocating  death of her two other daughters, Malena (3.5 years old) and Iris (6 months old), in 2019 and 2021.
