Greek FM Gerapetritis meets with Cyprus President Christodoulides

Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs George Gerapetritis and President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides held a working meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nicosia on Tuesday evening.

Also present were Gerapetritis' counterpart Constantinos Kombos and Deputy Minister of European Affairs Marilena Raouna.

The meeting took place as part of regular contacts between Greece and the Republic of Cyprus. Various bilateral and international issues, including the Cyprus issue, were discussed.

In statements prior to the Greek minister's arrival, Christodoulides said that "Cyprus and Greece have common goals and objectives in relation to the need to restart talks on the Cyprus issue," Cyprus News Agency (CNA) reported.

Asked whether the visit signaled some new developments, the Cyprus president said that the meeting took place for an exchange of views and specific actions and steps in the context of the UN Secretary-General's ongoing efforts to achieve this common goal.
