General Dimitrios Choupis signs Greece-India military cooperation agreement in New Delhi (PHOTOS)

The Greek military chief laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and also had the opportunity to meet privately with the Greek ambassador to India.

General Dimitrios Choupis, the head of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (GEETHA), is making an official visit to India until April 11 at the invitation of his counterpart, General Anil Chauhan.

As announced on Tuesday by GEETHA, the two military leaders had the opportunity to discuss issues of common interest in their meeting. These included, among others, the regional and international situation and the emerging security challenges due to the prevailing instability worldwide.

The GEETHA chief also met the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, as well as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, and discussed operational issues, emphasising at the same time the special value of the military cooperation of the two countries.

In the framework of Choupis's visit, the Greece-India military cooperation program was signed for the first time. It includes a number of activities that will be carried out in both countries and are expected to strengthen military cooperation and excellent relations between them.

The GEETHA leader laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi. He also had a private meeting with the Greek ambassador to India, Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, with whom he discussed international developments in the wider region and relations between the two countries.
