Tsitsipas Prioritizes Doubles with Brother Over Mixed Doubles with Sakkari at Olympics

Stefanos and Petros sail into ATP Rotterdam second round

Stefanos Tsitsipas has stated that he will not play mixed doubles with Maria Sakkari at the upcoming Olympic Games if he qualifies for doubles with his brother, Petros.

"I have a dream with my brother," Tsitsipas said. "Combining it with such a large event that dates back to ancient Greece, for us, it's bigger than anything else."

Tsitsipas's decision stems from his desire to form a historic sibling duo at the Games. Notably, the world number five emphasized the grueling nature of participating in three events at a single tournament.

Sakkari, who expressed her Olympic ambitions alongside Tsitsipas, acknowledged his priority. "I completely agree she's one of the best partners to have in the mixed doubles field," Tsitsipas said of Sakkari. "I have had great moments with her."

Tsitsipas and Petros, the younger brother ranked outside the top 200, will attempt to secure a doubles entry at the Olympics. Their bond and shared dream have motivated Tsitsipas to prioritize their collaboration.
