The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki's School of Modern Greek Language has been honored with the "European Language Label 2021-2022" for its innovative language teaching methods. The prestigious award recognises the success of the project "New without Borders/World in Order" in revolutionising language learning approaches.

Evaluated by the State Scholarship Foundation, acting as the National Coordination Unit of the Erasmus+ European Programme for Education and Training, the project secured a remarkable score of 59 out of 60. This accolade marks the second time the School of Modern Greek Language has been bestowed with the European Language Label, following its recognition in 2016.

The European Language Label, an initiative by the European Commission to promote pioneering language teaching methodologies, celebrates institutions and individuals who excel in developing tools and techniques that enhance language education standards throughout Europe.

Established in 1970 under the auspices of the Faculty of Philosophy, the School of Modern Greek Language has been instrumental in offering Modern Greek language courses to foreign learners and expatriates. Alongside its core language programmes, the school provides specialised courses and teacher training seminars, engages in research projects, and collaborates with national and international educational institutions. Moreover, it conducts proficiency examinations crucial for foreign students seeking admission to higher education institutions in Greece.
