Important Guidelines for Greek Postal Voters: Deadlines and Procedures

Voting Greece

Greek voters residing abroad who have chosen to participate in the elections via postal vote must ensure that their sealed envelope containing their ballot is sent by May 28 at the latest to ensure timely delivery. For voters residing in Greece, the deadline is June 3 if their ballot is collected by a postal service employee or June 4 if they deliver it in person to a post office branch.

Postal votes must reach their final destination by 17:00 on Saturday, June 8. Any ballot that fails to arrive at the postal vote collection area by this time will be returned to the sender unopened. In such cases, or for those who do not submit their postal vote at all, voters will have the option to vote in person at their designated polling station on election day, but only after 11:00 in the morning.

Voters opting for postal voting have been allocated to 237 polling stations located at the Peristeri Exhibition Centre, where all postal votes from around the world will be collected. A special committee will receive these votes and store them in designated ballot boxes. On the day of the European elections, once voting concludes, postal votes will be counted simultaneously with votes from the rest of the country.

As of Friday, May 24, postal votes had been delivered to 96% of the 202,516 registered recipients, with sealed votes from over 60,000 voters already received at postal vote sorting centers.
