The Joint Ministerial Decision has been amended to implement controlled access measures for visitors and residents in specific areas of Santorini and Thirasia.

As per the decision, the following traffic restrictions will be enforced for visitors and residents until October 31, 2024, to mitigate the risk of landslides:

a) Traffic and passage of all vehicles are prohibited in the Amoudi Settlement, on the municipal road from the intersection of the regional road of Oias to the port of Amoudi. However, supply vehicles are exempted from this prohibition between 05:00 am to 10:00 am, and up to 5 passenger cars for private use (E.X.I) with up to 10 seats, as per Law 4093/2012 (A' 222). These cars will enter on a rotating basis by the Municipality of Thira to facilitate visitor movement.

b) In the Bay of Fira (old port of Fira), port authorities will control the disembarkation and departure of passengers on docked cruise ships. No more than 500 people will wait in the old port and the area in front of the cable car of the Bay of Fira. Port authorities are authorized to implement measures to control the boarding and disembarkation of all vessel types to and from Thirasia, Palaia, and New Kameni.

c) At Ormos Athinios (the new port of Fira), traffic control measures will be implemented for disembarking vehicles, prioritizing EIX vehicles and then buses and trucks. This aims to minimize traffic congestion during ship disembarkation and departure.

Additionally, warning signs regarding the risk of landslides will be placed in Santorini and Thirassia to prevent exposure. These signs, accompanied by relevant warning text in Greek, English, and French, will be placed at specific locations, including Amoudi Settlement, Armeni Cove, Firostefani, Ormos Fira, and Thirasia—Corfu Bay.

The South Aegean Region will be responsible for the mandatory placement of these signs.
