CRETE - In a massive operation involving approximately 150 police officers from three Cretan prefectures (Heraklion, Rethymno, and Chania), authorities uncovered a massive cannabis plantation near Lake Kournas in Apokoronas, Chania. The operation, which began early this morning, yielded a staggering 2,000 plants.
Simultaneously, police conducted raids in the Mylopotamos region, specifically in Livadia and Perama, where they discovered smaller, scattered cannabis plantations and made several arrests. Authorities have confirmed that all the cases are linked to the primary plantation in Kournas.
According to Cretalive sources, at least four arrests have been made. Among those apprehended are an Albanian national apprehended inside the Kournas plantation and three Cretan individuals from Livadia and Perama Mylopotamos.
Sources reveal that the operation was the culmination of an extensive investigation by the Heraklion Drug Squad, which had been monitoring the operation for a significant period.
The sheer scale of the discovery is remarkable, but equally impressive is the seamless coordination and collaboration demonstrated by the various participating agencies. Each unit flawlessly executed its role, leading to the operation's success.
