Marina Satti has climbed to the top of music platforms and the Global Viral Chart, captivating European audiences with her participation in Eurovision 2024.
Satti returns with a video—a stark reminder that our seas have become the eternal resting place for tens of thousands of "anonymous" people.
Marina Satti visually accompanies the song "Ah, Sea" with close-up shots of fences, life vests, and the remnants of human lives floating in the seas we swim in, paying tribute to at least 29,984 recorded individuals who lost their lives in the Mediterranean over the past decade—among them 1,274 children.
Proving that a true artist is one who resonates with and reflects their era, the unique hitmaker and performer shifts the spotlight to the ongoing tragedy we tend to forget. With her beautiful ballad "Ah, Sea," she respectfully bows to the thousands of victims of wars, persecutions, and violence who didn't find refuge on the shores of the West.
The music video "Ah, Thalassa" is a co-production of Hiersoir (France) and Nomad Productions (Greece) directed by Cyprien Clément-Delmas. All proceeds from Marina Satti and Mad House Records will be donated to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support refugee children.
There is also a dedication at the start of the video to her father, stating "For my dad." It's worth noting that her beloved father passed away a few months ago, with the song "Ah, Sea" being dedicated to him.
