Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic made a statement during his first match at the Paris Olympics by prominently displaying a cross.
This act came in the wake of the controversy surrounding the event’s opening ceremony, which faced backlash for portraying Jesus’ Last Supper and other perceived offences toward Christianity.

Djokovic’s display of the cross is seen as a personal declaration of faith, particularly significant given his well-known stance on other matters of principle. Notably, Djokovic’s refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, a choice that resulted in substantial financial losses, has also been a point of discussion.
“Before I am an athlete, I am an Orthodox Christian,” Djokovic emphasized, reaffirming his commitment to his faith amidst ongoing debates and controversies.
