Former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial received a hero’s welcome from 2,000 fans at Athens International Airport after completing a surprise move to Greek Super League side AEK Athens.
The 28-year-old Frenchman, who had been a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford, has agreed to a three-year deal with the Greek giants.
AEK Athens announced the signing on Wednesday, sharing the news with fans in a post on X, proclaiming “the wizard is coming.” The club also alerted supporters to Martial’s arrival time, prompting a large crowd of passionate fans to gather at the airport to greet their new star.

Martial had been linked to several clubs, including Brazilian side Flamengo, but ultimately chose AEK, where he is set to earn £2.5 million per season. The deal, reportedly valued at £7.5 million over three years, is said to be the most lucrative in the club’s history.
