An apparent arson attack in Iraklio, Crete, has left the Malevizi municipality scrambling to replace vital garbage trucks. Eight trucks parked at the municipal garage were engulfed in flames early Wednesday morning, leaving only two unscathed.
Firefighters responded to an emergency call at 2 a.m., but the blaze had already consumed most of the waste management vehicles. Authorities are investigating the possibility of arson, as reports indicate a potential breach in the garage's perimeter fence.
Municipal officials are now collaborating with neighboring municipalities to find a temporary solution for waste collection in the wake of the devastating fire.
