Greek Deputy Foreign Minister George Kotsiras, during his recent visit to Alexandria and Cairo, expressed the Greek government's strong support for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Greek community in Egypt.

The visit coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, during which Kotsiras was honoured with a distinguished award by the Patriarchate.

Kotsiras also attended a cultural event featuring soprano Sonia Theodoridou, organised by the Greek Embassy in Egypt in collaboration with the Greek community of Alexandria. His visit included meetings with representatives of the Greek diaspora in both Alexandria and Cairo to discuss issues affecting their communities. In Alexandria, he toured the iconic Library of Alexandria and the Cavafy Museum.

In Cairo, Kotsiras met with Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Nabil Habashi, where both sides reaffirmed the strong Greek-Egyptian relations and discussed enhancing cooperation on diaspora matters, including trilateral initiatives with Cyprus.
