United Airlines has unveiled its most extensive international expansion to date, introducing service to eight new cities starting May 2025.
From its Newark/New York hub, United will commence five new nonstop flights to unique destinations unserved by other U.S. airlines: Nuuk, Greenland; Palermo, Italy; Bilbao, Spain; Madeira Island, Portugal; and Faro, Portugal.
Additionally, United will launch three new nonstop routes from Washington D.C./Dulles, including its inaugural year-round service to Dakar, Senegal, and new seasonal flights to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.
With this expansion, United's summer 2025 transatlantic schedule will feature over 760 weekly flights, solidifying its position as the leading U.S. carrier for Atlantic crossings.
Travelers will also enjoy earlier summer start dates for routes to Venice, Italy; Athens, Greece; and Barcelona, Spain. Moreover, United plans to increase weekly flights for routes from Newark/New York to Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Dubrovnik, Croatia; and Athens, Greece.
The airline is further expanding its reach with new direct flights from Tokyo–Narita to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Kaohsiung, alongside a nonstop service to Koror, Palau. These flights will conveniently connect with United's transpacific services to five U.S. hubs.
United's expansion offers a diverse range of experiences, from cultural adventures to iconic attractions. The airline continues to lead the sector, offering 800 daily flights to 147 international destinations next summer, 40 of which are unique to United among U.S. carriers.
Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, remarked, "Our network offers unmatched choices and experiences, making United the go-to airline for global travel from the U.S."
This expansion aligns with United's recent Good Leads The Way advertising campaign, underscoring its status as the world’s largest airline and highlighting the extensive travel flexibility and options it provides to its customers.
All new routes await government approval and will be available for booking on United.com and the United app.
