Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has outlined Turkey's approach to resolving long-standing issues with Greece in the Aegean, emphasising mutual benefits and peaceful cooperation.
Fidan's remarks, made in an exclusive interview with Aksam newspaper, come ahead of his official visit to Greece.
In the interview, Fidan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to a "win-win" principle, known as "Kazan-Kazan," in addressing Aegean disputes. He stated that Turkey seeks to resolve its differences with Greece in a manner that benefits both countries, in line with the vision put forward by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“We aim to address existing issues with Greece based on mutual benefit, as outlined in our president's vision,” Fidan said. “Our goal is to end these problems definitively, ensuring that both sides benefit, and ultimately turn the Aegean into a sea of peace.”
Fidan’s comments signal a focus on diplomacy and dialogue, as Turkey and Greece continue to navigate tensions in the region. The two countries will hold talks on Wednesday in Istanbul as part of Confidence Building Measures aimed at reducing tensions and fostering cooperation.
This diplomatic engagement is seen as a significant step toward de-escalating tensions in the Aegean, a region that has been a source of friction between Turkey and Greece for decades.
