An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale was felt across several regions of Cyprus on Friday, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported.

The epicentre was located 73 kilometres southeast of Alanya in Turkey, with a focal depth of 30 kilometres.

Residents in multiple areas of Cyprus reported experiencing the tremor, though no immediate reports of damage were received.

The tremor occurs amid ongoing geological activity in the eastern Mediterranean region.
