Scandal in Kalyvia: Famous DJ and High-Profile Party Raided for Drug Offenses

The blonde DJ Michaela, cousin of the President of Azerbaijan, and the private cocaine parties in Kalyvia

Cocaine, pink cocaine, ecstasy, MDMA, and a safe filled with €43,000 were seized.

Michaela, the “explosive” blonde DJ from the United Kingdom with Azerbaijani roots and a suspicious past, hosted large cocaine- and illusion-fueled parties at a four-acre villa in Kalyvia Thorikou. Corrupt police officers took on the roles of security, leading to a drug enforcement raid by the Narcotics Division.

These elements form the pieces of the cinematic case that unfolded early yesterday morning at a luxury residence in Kalyvia, resulting in the arrest of 13 individuals involved in the drug party. Among the illegal substances seized were cocaine, pink cocaine, ecstasy, MDMA, and a safe loaded with €43,000.

Private Invitations via Internet

The countdown for the activities of the explosive DJ from the UK, originally from Azerbaijan, who came to Greece to make lucrative drug businesses, began approximately two days ago.

At that time, a tip was received at the Narcotics Division offices indicating that the blonde Michaela had rented a four-acre villa in Kalyvia and was preparing for a big party.

To maintain the strictly private nature of the gathering, which was for a select and initiated few, she sent online invitations to her friends, requesting absolute discretion.

The officers of the Hellenic Police, considering the information from the “deep throat” as reliable, began their investigation. Acting swiftly, they managed to pinpoint the location of the drug gathering and, with a well-organized operation early Monday morning, raided the venue and arrested 13 individuals, including the 44-year-old organizer.

The other detainees include nine Greeks aged 42, 34, 35, 48, 29, 32, 30, 27, and 33, mostly from the Maroussi area, including three police officers accused of providing security and surveillance services beyond their duties, and three Greek women, two aged 29 and one aged 30.

In Michaela’s possession, particularly in her bedroom at the villa where she was staying, 45 packages (nylon, paper, bottles, plastic container) containing cocaine with a total gross weight of 79.2 grams were found, 117 ECSTASY tablets, 23.5 pharmaceutical XANAX tablets, pink cocaine weighing 3.3 grams, crystal methamphetamine weighing 2.8 grams, 11 LSD-blotted papers, and 0.7 grams of MDMA. Inside the safe (in her room), the amount of €43,605 was found and confiscated.

A 37-year-old Greek from Maroussi, accused of providing the event space, was caught on the ground floor loaded with cocaine, while a 36-year-old DJ from Maroussi had on his equipment table 0.5 grams of processed cannabis, one homemade nylon package containing 0.6 grams of unprocessed cannabis, 63 ECSTASY tablets, seven homemade packages containing a total of 10.1 grams of cocaine, one nylon package possibly containing 5.5 grams of ketamine, two packages containing 2.2 grams of ECSTASY powder, one package containing 0.6 grams of pink cocaine, and two glass bottles containing a liquid of unknown chemical composition weighing a total of 86.5 grams.

The Mysterious Past of Michaela

This is not the first time Michaela has come under the scrutiny of authorities. According to foreign reports and official references, in July 2021, the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) investigated properties worth £340 million purchased with “dubious” wealth from Azerbaijan. They seized £4 million from an Azerbaijani couple with alleged ties to the country’s political elite. The NCA had previously “frozen” £6.4 million belonging to the cousin of the President of Azerbaijan and her husband.

Authorities estimated that the funds were the proceeds of corruption, theft, or embezzlement, with the couple agreeing to give £4,033,803 from their UK bank accounts. In return, the NCA agreed not to attempt the seizure of any of their other assets in the UK.

Court documents stated that the couple’s funds reached the UK through a money-laundering operation. However, they claimed they were unaware the money had passed through accounts linked to money laundering from an underground “system” that had funneled a total of £2.2 billion out of the country between 2012 and 2014.
