Greek authorities rescued 82 undocumented migrants early Wednesday after they were located 11 nautical miles south of Crete.
A Hellenic Coast Guard patrol boat, assisted by a rescue vessel, safely collected the migrants and transferred them to the port of Kali Limenes.
According to officials, all individuals were found to be in good health. They are expected to be temporarily accommodated in Heraklion as authorities assess their situation.
The incident underscores the continued challenges posed by irregular migration in the region, as Greece remains a key entry point for migrants attempting to reach Europe.
