Inaugural Crete Challenger at Lyttos Sportscenter Begins

The back-to-back tournaments are being hosted at the Lyttos Sportscenter.

The CRETE Challenger LYTTOS 1 at the Lyttos Beach Hotel in Hersonissos, Crete, has commenced, featuring back-to-back ATP Challenger 50 tournaments. Organized by Apostolos Tsitsipas's I.T.C., these events bring 100 top tennis players to Crete, offering a €54,000 prize pool per tournament and valuable ATP Ranking points.

HERSONISSOS, March 4, 2025

The CRETE Challenger LYTTOS 1 at the Lyttos Beach Hotel in Hersonissos, Crete, has commenced. The first event will conclude on March 9, with the second running from March 10 to 16. Both tournaments are part of the ATP Challenger 50 category, organized by the International Tennis Coaching (I.T.C.) of Apostolos Tsitsipas, hosted by the LYTTOS BEACH RESORT & SPORTS CENTER, and supported by the Hellenic Tennis Federation (E.F.O.A.).

These events are part of the ATP Challenger Tour series, marking the return of this category to Greece after a 13-year hiatus. They will feature 100 of the world’s top tennis players, with each tournament offering a prize pool of €54,000. The winner of each tournament will gain 50 valuable ATP Ranking points. Including players, their companions, and ATP representatives, around 300 individuals from around the globe are expected in Crete.

Apostolos Tsitsipas, with his professional team, aims to establish a series of ATP Challenger tournaments in Greece and Crete. This initiative is designed not only to elevate Greece’s status on the global tennis map but also to provide young Greek talents with opportunities to advance in professional tennis. Additionally, it promotes Crete as an exceptional tourist and sports destination in Greece and Europe.
