Maria Evangelia Leon, a rising star in kickboxing and daughter of coach Kostas Leon at Leon Gym in Heraklion, Crete, has solidified her dominance on the international stage with a stunning series of victories at WAKO-sanctioned competitions. Representing Greece with unwavering skill, the young athlete has claimed a string of gold medals, elevating the nation’s profile in the officially recognized global kickboxing federation.

Leon’s remarkable run kicked off at the ‘Athens Challenge’ European Cup, where she secured a knockout victory in the Low Kick category at -52 kg. Her momentum carried her to the WAKO European Kickboxing Cup in Bulgaria, where she clinched another gold with back-to-back first-round knockouts. The triumphs continued at the WAKO Kickboxing World Cup’s ‘Italian Open 2025’ in Jesolo, Italy, where she emerged as world champion in the K1 style at -52 kg, stopping the fight in the second round via referee intervention.
