Xi Congratulates Tasoulas on Greek Presidency

BEIJING, March 14 (Xinhua) – Chinese President Xi Jinping extended his congratulations on Thursday to Konstantinos Tasoulas on assuming the presidency of Greece.

In his message, Xi highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between China and Greece, emphasizing their long-standing friendship and strong strategic partnership based on mutual understanding and cooperation.

He noted that in recent years, both nations have made significant progress in key projects, including the Piraeus Port initiative, high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and the establishment of the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations, as well as the Chinese School of Classical Studies in Athens. These efforts, he said, reflect the shared values and global responsibilities of the two ancient civilizations.

Acknowledging the complexities of the current global landscape, Xi underscored that international cooperation is essential in addressing common challenges. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with President Tasoulas to strengthen bilateral ties, deepen cultural and economic collaboration, and further enhance the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership.

Xi also expressed his hope that China-Greece relations will continue to contribute to the stability and prosperity of global affairs, including fostering stronger ties between China and the European Union.
