PRESS RELEASE–NEW YORK CITY–MARCH 20, 2025–One Bean Marketing, an NYC-based Marketing agency, is proud to highlight it’s global social media campaign to commemorate Greek Independence Day. #WeAreGreekWarriors celebrates the fearless Greek women who played a crucial role in the Greek War of Independence. This campaign also connects their legacy to the ongoing struggles faced by many unknown women fighting for democracy, freedom, and independence around the world today.
Women have always been warriors
From leading battles in the Greek Revolution to standing on the front lines of modern human rights struggles, women’s resilience and leadership have shaped history. As we celebrate Greek Independence Day and International Women’s Day in March, this campaign encourages women worldwide to share their stories and recognize those throughout history who have contributed to the movement for change.
“As a Greek American woman, I feel a deep responsibility to amplify the voices of the lesser-known heroines of the Greek Revolution—Rallou Karatza, Domna Visvizi, the Mesolongitisses, Moscho Tzavela, and the Souliotisses—who fought alongside the more widely recognized heroines like Laskarina Bouboulina and Manto Mavrogenous,” said Angie Xidias, owner of One Bean Marketing. “These women were not just supporters of the cause; they were leaders, strategists, and warriors. They defied expectations, led armies, and sacrificed everything for freedom. Today, many women around the world continue this struggle. This campaign aims to highlight the contributions of unknown women globally who are making a difference, draw parallels with the Greek Revolution’s heroines, and inspire the next generation to recognize their own power.”
Greek Independence Day is not just a reflection on the past; it serves as a reminder that the struggle for democracy, freedom, and equality continues today in every corner of the world. While we may not yet know the names of the women leading this fight, we must seek them out and amplify their work. The hashtag #WeAreGreekWarriors is a call to action for women and girls to see themselves as future leaders, changemakers, and warriors and to celebrate each other now.

Media coverage & continued impact
Over the years this campaign has been featured in publications such as Marie Claire Greece, The National Herald, Greek City Times, and Hellenic DNA—all helping to shed light on the often-overlooked heroines of the Greek War of Independence. However, there is still much work to be done to ensure that the names of these courageous women—Rallou Karatza, Domna Visvizi, the Mesolongitisses, Moscho Tzavela, the Souliotisses, and many others—become as widely recognized as Laskarina Bouboulina and Manto Mavrogenous. Their stories deserve to be known, their sacrifices honored, and their legacy celebrated, not just in Greece but across the world. This campaign is just the beginning of a larger effort to give these women their rightful place in history.
Let’s all share the campaign images and videos on social media using the hashtag #WeAreGreekWarriors to honor the courageous women of history and amplify the voices of those still fighting today.
