President Trump welcomes Greek-American Alek Skarlatos to White House for Greek Independence Day

President Trump invited Greek-American politician Alek Skarlatos to the White House to take part in the Greek Independence Day celebrations yesterday.

Trump paid homage to Skarlatos' heroism in thwarting a terrorist attack on Thayls train 9364 from Amsterdam to Paris in 2015.

Skarlatos, a member of the Oregon Army National Guard at the time, along with Spencer Stone, a fellow American airman, and their friend Chris Norman, a British passenger, managed to subdue the attacker.

"Alex's bravery helped save countless innocent lives that day", President Trump said.

Skarlatos is a member of the Oregon State Legislate.
