Thessaloniki: Drunk Driver Causes Accident and Stabs Passenger of Another Vehicle

A 48-year-old man was arrested by police in Thessaloniki after causing a traffic accident while driving under the influence of alcohol and subsequently stabbing a passenger from another vehicle involved in the collision.

According to local news outlet thestival, the incident took place on Monday evening around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sofouli and Stratou streets in the Polichni area. The 48-year-old driver collided with another vehicle, sparking a heated altercation with its two occupants. The situation quickly escalated when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the passengers.

Police swiftly arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect. Authorities reported that the man was not only intoxicated but was also found in possession of a small quantity of narcotic substances. The injured passenger sustained minor injuries and received first aid from an EKAB ambulance crew before being released.

The suspect now faces charges related to the accident, the assault, and drug possession, highlighting yet another alarming case of road rage and impaired driving in the northern Greek city.
