A bill expected to be approved by Parliament on Thursday will mandate that new identity cards include a Personal Identification Number (PIN) for each citizen.

The measure is designed to streamline interactions between individuals and public services.

Under the new amendment, existing ID cards will remain valid until they expire or are replaced.

The rule will apply to everyone applying for a new identity card.

The PIN, a unique identifier akin to the Tax Identification Number (AFM) or Social Security Number (AMKA), will serve as a universal code for all future dealings with public authorities.
