OpenAI has announced an upgrade to ChatGPT, introducing an enhanced memory feature that allows the chatbot to retain more details from your conversations. The company’s CEO, Sam Altman, shared on X that ChatGPT can now “refer to all your previous conversations,” delivering a more personalized experience.
This means ChatGPT will remember the “context of past conversations,” such as your preferences and interests, using this information to tailor its responses more effectively each time.
However, if you prefer not to use this feature, OpenAI has added a setting to disable it. For now, the new memory function is not available to everyone. It’s currently accessible only to users subscribed to the Plus or Pro versions of ChatGPT, and it’s not yet rolled out to users in Europe.
Additionally, you can manage all the memories stored by ChatGPT, with the option to delete some or all of them through the settings. These “memories” are stored indefinitely, but you can remove them whenever you choose.
