A large-scale rescue operation is in progress on Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest peak, to save a woman near the “Agapitos” refuge.
The Greek Fire Service was alerted around 1:00 p.m. local time, prompting an immediate response.
The mission involves 23 firefighters, including mountaineering teams from the 1st, 2nd, and 8th EMAK units, the hiking division of the 2nd EMODE, and personnel from the Litochoro Fire Service. A Fire Service helicopter and an EKSED helicopter are also en route to assist in the operation.

Authorities have not released further details about the woman’s condition or the circumstances leading to the rescue. The effort underscores the challenges of navigating the rugged terrain of Mount Olympus, a popular destination for hikers and climbers worldwide.
