'The Greek Podyssey': The Podcast Set To Unite Hellenes Worldwide in a Powerful Connection of Greek Heritage

Podyssey

Upcoming podcast 'The Greek Podyssey' are merging their voices with Greek City Times to connect Hellenes worldwide.

Covering everything from Greek legal matters, Greek poetry, to cultural isolation and homesickness, 'The Greek Podyssey' sets out to bridge the gaps within the Greek diaspora and spark meaningful dialogue - never letting go of the hosts' signature blend of humorous banter, which entertains while informing.

The podcast, a tapestry of interviews, debate and personal anecdotes, is set to release in a month and is hosted by media personality Christine Stavropoulos and musical director Nikos Sousamidis.

Christine, born and raised in Sydney, is a multifaceted media personality whose true passion lies in community engagement. Deeply committed to her Hellenic roots, she is known for her work emceeing events, serving on community committees, and promoting Greek culture in Australia.

An Adelaide-born musician raised in Greece, Nikos brings an impressive plethora of experience as a musical director, collaborating with some of Greece's most acclaimed artists and directed high-profile concerts, including partnerships with media powerhouse ANT1.

Nikos shares that him and Christine identified the barriers that hinder Greek diasporic connection and understanding.

"There is a gap between Greeks living in the US, Greeks living in Australia, and mainland Greeks. They don't know how our communities work, what's happening here or what's happening in the US.", Nikos explains.

"Greekness is fading away. The associations in place don't provide the updated needs of the Greek culture.", he adds.

'The Greek Podyssey' steps in as a way to overcome these barriers as a platform to connect Greeks reconnect Hellenes across continents, and breathe new life into our shared heritage to keep Hellenism not just alive, but thriving.

"The goal is to unite people through our culture, language and traditions.", Nikos said.

Nikos and Christine’s dynamic partnership began in 2022, when they co-hosted the Wednesday night program on Hellenic Radio, 1683AM. Their natural chemistry and shared passion for Hellenic culture quickly resonated with listeners, sparking a desire to take their conversations beyond the airwaves.

They decided to take this engaging and familiar radio dynamic to the next level with 'The Greek Podyssey', giving them breadth to dive deeper into conversations, explore more nuanced topics, and connect with Greeks around the world in a more intimate way.

"We want the audience to see the guests through video and connect with them", Nikos tells me.

Guests on the lineup for The Greek Podyssey range from scientists, artists, writers, and Greek politicians.

"We have a mission to bring everyone together. To bring the young people back to the culture, back to the traditions."

'The Greek Podyssey' will be available on all major streaming platforms.
