A successful search and rescue operation saved 75 migrants in distress 14.4 nautical miles southeast of Karpathos, coordinated by the Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Center (EKSED).
The migrants, aboard a sailing vessel that issued a distress signal, were safely rescued by the passenger and vehicle ferry Blue Star Chios. A Coast Guard lifeboat was also present at the scene, where weather conditions included west-northwest winds of 5 Beaufort.
All 75 individuals were safely recovered, highlighting the swift response of Greek authorities and maritime services in ensuring their safety.
