According to an interview with Athens-Macedonian News Agency, Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni has announced an initiative aimed at cultivating a new generation of skilled craftsmen through formal education, certification, business support, and international networking.
Mendoni detailed the Ministry of Culture’s collaborative programs designed to support traditional crafts and fine arts across Greece.
"We are interested in creating a new generation of craftsmen with professional training, certification, business support, and international networking," Mendoni stated. She also highlighted the joint efforts of the Ministry of Culture with other government departments, universities, and regional authorities.
Among the cornerstone projects is the revitalization of the Higher School of Fine Arts and Marble Crafts in Panormos, Tinos, which has seen significant upgrades to both its operating status and educational capabilities. The school plays a key role in preserving and modernizing Greece's longstanding tradition of marble craftsmanship.
The minister also addressed progress on the Higher School of Performing Arts, a major educational project currently under legislative review. "Our goal is for the bill to be discussed in Parliament in the fall, for a Governing Committee to be appointed within the year, and for the School to welcome the first students in the academic year 2026–2027," Mendoni said.
These initiatives reflect the government’s broader strategy to preserve and promote Greece’s cultural heritage, while equipping artisans with the tools and support needed to thrive in the modern economy.
