Before the recent European Union-India Interparliamentary meeting, Nikolas Farantouris, a Greek MEP and member of the European Parliament's Security and Defense Committee, said Kashmir is Indian territory but claimed by Pakistan, Turkey is an ally of Pakistan, and "India loves Greece."
Before the meeting, MEP Farantouris said "We are about to welcome our friends from India from the India-European Union interparliamentary delegation" and stressed that "India is a friendly country towards both Europe and Greece. It is looking westward."
The MEP highlighted that last month, India and Pakistan were on the brink of all-out war over Kashmir" following the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 when Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 tourists.
"Kashmir is a region on the India-Pakistan border. It is a part of India's territory but claimed by Pakistan. The conflict escalated after several tourists were killed by Islamist extremist groups," Farantouris explained.
"A war broke out. "Pakistan is a close ally of Turkey. India, therefore, has every reason to look to the West," said the member of the Coalition of the Left (SYRIZA) party.
"India loves Greece and we are about to welcome our friends to discuss geopolitics, geostrategy, security, defense, tourism, business initiatives and joint actions across the board," he concluded.
