President of the Hellenic Republic Constantine Tassoulas held a meeting on Tuesday with Archbishop Damianos of Sinai, Pharan, and Raithu—also the Abbot of the historic Holy Monastery of St. Catherine at Mount Sinai—to discuss recent developments concerning the revered religious site.
During the meeting, Archbishop Damianos extended a formal invitation to President Tassoulas to attend the monastery’s annual feast day celebrations at the end of the year. He expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing support of the Greek state and the solidarity shown by the Greek people.
The Archbishop reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the rights and legacy of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which holds profound religious and cultural significance for the Orthodox Christian world.
Also present at the meeting were the monastery's legal advisor, Christos Kobiliris, its press spokesperson, Archimandrite Porfyrios, and the monastery's secretary, Aikaterini Spyropoulou.
The Holy Monastery of St. Catherine, located at the foot of Mount Sinai in Egypt, is one of Christianity’s oldest functioning monastic communities and has maintained strong historical ties with the Greek Orthodox Church.
