Authorities are investigating a critical five-hour gap between two video recordings that may hold the key to solving the death of a young girl found on a beach in Paleo Faliro. The events likely unfolded within this timeframe.
The first video, captured at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday near a kiosk by Eden Beach, shows an unidentified woman with three children, including a girl in a stroller. The second video, recorded at 2:00 a.m., shows the same woman with only two older boys, pushing an empty stroller. She removes items from it, abandons it, and leaves with the boys in a taxi. Notably, her dress appears to be worn backwards, suggesting she dressed hurriedly, possibly at the beach.
Police and Coast Guard are reviewing additional footage to trace the taxi’s route and locate the driver, who may know where the woman and boys were dropped off. A photo from earlier that evening shows the girl in the stroller wearing a hat and swimsuit, her face covered, possibly unconscious or asleep. The other children were not in swimwear, raising questions about the group’s activities.
The coroner noted the girl had a metabolic disorder, and investigators are exploring whether the heatwave exacerbated her condition. One theory is that the woman, potentially the children’s mother, took them to the beach to alleviate symptoms, though it’s unclear why only the girl wore a swimsuit.
Timeline:
- 9:30 p.m. Saturday: Woman seen with three children, including girl in stroller, near Eden Beach.
- 2:00 a.m. Sunday: Woman seen with two boys, abandoning empty stroller, dress worn backwards, leaves in taxi.
