Kalliopi Semertizidou, former Community Resources Coordinator for New Democracy, has spoken out following her resignation amid reports tying her and her husband to the OPEKEPE scandal involving €2.5 million in alleged illegal subsidies. In an interview with ANT1 television, she stated, “No authority has contacted us or our family to date,” firmly denying involvement by adding, “We are not connected to any of the cases or accusations leveled against us recently.” She dismissed the claims as “completely false information.”

Kalliopi Semertizidou Addresses the Ferrari Controversy
A key point of contention in the scandal is a Ferrari reportedly linked to Semertizidou’s partner, which has raised questions about its compatibility with their declared income. Addressing the issue, she explained, “My partner’s family are third-generation livestock farmers and one of the most productive in the region, managing a large livestock unit. As an agricultural-livestock family, we rely on this profession as our primary source of income and have received only the legal subsidies owed to us from OPEKEPE. My partner purchased the Ferrari in 2004, and we have never concealed it. Any attempt to defame us is unjust and deplorable.”
