HERAKLEIA, Greece – Authorities have issued an urgent evacuation order for the village of Herakleia (Brouma) as a raging wildfire from the Lantzoi front advances rapidly toward the area, threatening the village’s first homes.

Firefighting teams are working to create firebreaks around Herakleia in a desperate bid to slow the uncontrolled blaze, which continues to burn fiercely. Efforts are expected to grow more challenging after sunset, when aerial firefighting operations will cease due to strong winds sweeping the region.
No evacuation orders have been issued for other areas at this time. The 112 emergency service is urging residents in the wider region to remain on high alert but has not called for additional evacuations.
