Greek tax authorities have uncovered more than 100 violations in just one week during inspections of businesses operating in popular tourist destinations.
According to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), the breaches were recorded at restaurants, entertainment venues, beauty services such as manicure-pedicure salons, and beach equipment rental companies. The inspections focused on high-traffic islands including Limnos, Mytilene, Tinos, Crete (Chania and Heraklion), Santorini, Rhodes, and Poros.
The most common violation was the failure to issue tax receipts, AADE said. In response, authorities enforced 48-hour closures on the offending businesses and imposed financial penalties.
AADE has also demanded multi-year financial records from these establishments, aiming to cross-check their declared income with official data and uncover any long-term patterns of tax evasion.
