Athens Rebetiko Festival Returns, Celebrating Greece’s Timeless Musical Soul

The Athens Rebetiko Festival is back for its second edition, inviting music lovers to a three-day celebration of rebetiko and Greek musical heritage in the vibrant Gazi district.

Running from October 10 to 12, 2025, the festival will feature concerts, talks, music presentations, workshops, dance and music lessons, and exhibitions, highlighting the richness and enduring spirit of this iconic Greek music style.

The event welcomes everyone—from longtime aficionados and those who grew up listening to their grandmothers’ playlists, to newcomers discovering rebetiko on TikTok, vinyl collectors, and online music enthusiasts.

Founded by Tasos Kaklamanis, Nikos Protopapas, Giannis Tsiantis, Katerina Tsiridou, and Sotiris Papatragiannis, the festival is organized by a team deeply rooted in Greek music. The first three also co-founded GRECOUS – Greek Music Archive in 2021, a production company dedicated to preserving, studying, and promoting Greece’s musical heritage as a living, evolving tradition.

A portion of the festival’s proceeds will support SOS Children’s Villages and the Panhellenic Musicians’ Solidarity Fund, while socially vulnerable groups—including the unemployed, large families, people with disabilities, seniors over 75, and children under 15—can enjoy free entry.

The 2nd Athens Rebetiko Festival promises a soulful homage to Greece’s musical heartbeat—a space where tradition meets today, inviting everyone to join the dance and experience the timeless spirit of rebetiko.
