On the evening of Saturday (October 11), two Frontex vessels, coordinated by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC), rescued 56 illegal immigrants who were aboard a single boat in the sea area south of Gavdos.

Specifically, as reported by ERT, the boat was spotted just two nautical miles south of the island, and the Frontex vessels escorted it safely to the port of Gavdos.

Tomorrow, Sunday (October 12), the immigrants are expected to be transported to Crete on the line ferry and from there to the temporary accommodation facility in Agyia, Chania.
