Since Wednesday, more than 114 migrants have been rescued from four vessels off the coast of Crete, according to public broadcaster ERT. Three boats were located approximately 30 nautical miles south of Iraklion and Ierapetra, while a fourth, carrying 22 people, was found near Kastri around 2 a.m. Thursday. The migrants were transported to the old cargo terminal at Iraklion’s port. This follows the arrival of 62 migrants on the island of Gavdos on Wednesday morning. A FRONTEX vessel is assisting the Hellenic Coast Guard in ongoing rescue operations in the area.
