A 4.5 magnitude earthquake occurred at 05:45 in the sea area between Rhodes and Turkey.
According to the revised solution of the Geodynamic Institute of Athens, the epicenter was located 35 km northeast of Rhodes, with a focal depth of 30.7 km.
Professor of seismology and President of OASP, Efthymios Lekkas, told ERTnews that there is no cause for concern. The earthquake, felt by residents in Rhodes and Marmaris, occurred in an area with frequent seismic activity.
“It’s a typical earthquake for the region, and there’s no reason for worry, though we are monitoring the phenomenon’s development,” Lekkas stated.
