The U.S. Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, met today (November 13) with Archbishop Ieronymos at the Archdiocese of Athens.
Upon her arrival at the Archdiocese, she was welcomed by Father Theoharis Varnavas, Chancellor of the Archdiocese, who then escorted her to the Archbishop’s office on the first floor.
This was her first official meeting with the Primate of the Church of Greece. Guilfoyle described the encounter as both a “honor and a blessing,” expressing her hope for a “fruitful relationship with the Church.”
She also mentioned that she plans to attend future church services and spoke warmly about her 19-year-old son, who was very happy that his mother had the opportunity to meet the Archbishop.
Guilfoyle revealed that when she was first offered the position of U.S. Ambassador to Greece, the first person she called to discuss the decision was Archbishop Ieronymos, noting that he played a significant role in her decision to accept the post.
In a brief exchange outside the Archbishop’s office, Guilfoyle told him,

“It’s wonderful to meet you. God bless you.”
Archbishop Ieronymos welcomed the Ambassador to Greece, wishing her a pleasant stay and expressing his hope that their meeting would mark the beginning of a productive relationship.
Earlier, during her meeting at the Presidential Mansion with President of the Hellenic Republic Kostas Tasoulas, Guilfoyle had stated that she wished to deepen her understanding of the Greek Orthodox Church, describing herself as a deeply religious person.
