Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Thursday to explore avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation and boosting investment flows from Singapore to Greece. Mitsotakis was also received by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana government complex.

During the discussions, the two leaders examined opportunities across multiple sectors, including tourism, shipping, defense, and Greek exports, particularly agri-food products. They also discussed broader investment prospects in Greece and potential cooperation in digital governance and the application of artificial intelligence in public administration.
Mitsotakis highlighted Greece’s ongoing reforms and underscored the country’s dual role as an energy hub for Southeastern Europe and a provider of energy security for Central and Eastern Europe. He cited Greece’s recent agreement to supply American LNG to Ukraine during President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Athens as an example of its strategic energy position.
The leaders also emphasized shared commitments to international law, the United Nations-based multilateral system, and free trade. Mitsotakis expressed support for stronger EU-Singapore relations, noting Singapore’s role as a key member of ASEAN in the rapidly developing Southeast Asian region.
At the start of their meeting, Mitsotakis remarked, “It is a real pleasure to be here; it has been a long time since the last Greek Prime Minister visited Singapore. Both our nations are maritime powers, and we are committed to an international order based on rules. We are beginning to attract investments from Singapore, and we hope these flows will continue and strengthen.”
Prime Minister Wong responded: “Your economy is performing well under your leadership, and we see many new opportunities in Greece and Europe due to free trade agreements and existing EU-Singapore agreements. Through these, we aim to deepen our economic relations.”
Following the meeting with Wong, Mitsotakis was welcomed by President Shanmugaratnam and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. The Greek Prime Minister also met with Metropolitan Konstantinos of Singapore and South Asia and representatives of the Greek community in Singapore.
