PODGORICA, Montenegro – Greek Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni concluded an official visit to Montenegro on Monday, holding in-depth talks with her counterpart, Minister of Culture and Media Tamara Vujović, aimed at deepening bilateral cultural cooperation.

The visit focused on implementing the agreements signed in Athens in June 2024. Both ministers attended the launch of a conservation training seminar at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, delivered with the support of Greek experts.
Key outcomes of the meeting include:
- The upcoming signing of a bilateral agreement enabling Montenegrin students and young professionals to undertake practical training in conservation in Greece
- Plans for joint archaeological projects
- Enhanced cooperation on underwater antiquities
- Montenegro’s full endorsement of Greece’s call for the reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures
- Greek technical assistance to Montenegro in modernising its legal framework for cultural heritage protection
Speaking in Cetinje, Minister Mendoni emphasised the historical and cultural bonds between the two nations:
“Our presence here today demonstrates Greece’s strong commitment to supporting Montenegro’s efforts to comprehensively protect its cultural heritage, archaeological sites, monuments and museums. Given Montenegro’s European integration perspective, cooperation between our Ministries of Culture and cultural institutions is more important than ever.”

The visit underscores the growing cultural partnership between the two countries as Montenegro advances its EU accession process.
